Kia ora koutou,
It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the halfway point of our school year! It’s been a busy and rewarding time, with our students working hard in the classroom and throwing themselves into a wide range of extracurricular activities.
A huge shout-out to our amazing sports coaches and managers who have supported inter school events and our netball teams—your time, energy, and encouragement make a real difference for our students.
We’re now heading into the swimming & water safety season, and I want to give a special thank you to Julie Bluck for her outstanding coordination of this important programme. Swimming is such a vital skill, and we’re grateful for the effort that goes into making it successful.
BOT elections are coming up soon. If you’re curious about what’s involved or thinking of putting your name forward, please don’t hesitate to come and have a chat with me or any member of our current Board. We’d love to talk with you.
And finally—have you seen our new room numbers? They look fantastic! A big well done to our students who created them with inspiration from our school murals—you’ve done an amazing job, and they’re a great example of school pride in action.
Ngā mihi nui,

ACROSS THE SCHOOL
Junior School Y 0/1
We really enjoyed linking our learning in Maths and Art. Take a look at some of the connections we made.
Our Year 2 and 3 students have dived into their swimming lessons at Northern Arena yesterday, kicking off a two-week programme designed to build water confidence and safety skills. The introductory session focused on assessing each child's swimming level to tailor the upcoming lessons to their needs.
These lessons are an excellent opportunity for our tamariki to develop lifelong skills that will keep them safe around water.
Year 4 / 5
This term, our Year 4/5 students have been learning and playing Tapuae, a fast-paced and exciting Māori game that’s all about teamwork, strategy, and fair play. The game has been a hit with our tamariki, who have shown incredible enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
Tapuae involves two teams working together to knock over a target using a soft ball while defending their own space. It’s a fantastic way to build communication skills, stay active, and connect with Te Ao Māori through traditional games.
We’ve loved seeing everyone get involved, cheer each other on, and grow in confidence each week. Ka mau te wehi, Year 4 and 5s.
Year 6
Our Year 6 students have excitedly jumped into maths this term using our brand-new Numicon equipment. The colourful, tactile shapes have brought number concepts to life, helping students explore place value, number patterns, and operations in a hands-on, visual way.
A big focus has been on rational numbers, especially fractions, where Numicon has really helped students see the size of parts and wholes more clearly. They’ve been building and comparing fractions while explaining their thinking with confidence. The buzz in the classroom is real, and we’re excited to keep building their number sense through meaningful exploration and structured mathematical talk.

Special congratulations to the Rovers who were overall winners of the Girls’ competition, and the Knights who came out on top in an epic penalty shootout in their final game.
