Dear Parents and Caregivers
A warm welcome to our first newsletter of the school year!
School is “buzzing” as everyone is settling well into the routine of school-life.
The ‘whānau connect’ has certainly strengthened this process - if you were not able to participate in this event, please make sure you contact your child’s teacher to set up a meeting time that works for you both.
DROP OFF AND PICK UP TIMES:
Please do not drop your children off before 8.30am - there is no supervision prior to this time.
Children need to be collected by 3.15pm or alternative arrangements may be made with our After School Care provider, Kelly Club. Phone 427 93 77 to book your child in.

Road Patrol
Our Year 6 Road Patrol monitors have made a great start! They have all turned up on time, and on their designated day. Well done to all. They also had some ‘refresher’ training with Constable Bryan and Constable John which helped them to relearn some of the important ‘calls’ when on duty.
Chinese New Year
The children in Room 30 had a great time learning about Chinese New Year. We watched some video clips, read some stories and made a dragon mask (for the year of the dragon). Xīnnián kuàilè (Happy New Year).

SENIOR SWIM CARNIVAL
Our annual Senior Swimming Carnival will take place on Wednesday 20th March from 11am through to 2pm.
This will involve all children in years 5 and 6. The focus will be on participation as well as selection for our Year 5/6 Inter-school swim team. There will be 3 levels of swimming: competitive, non-competitive & fun races. We will also be running some fun relays! Children will be able to wear their community colours on the day. Parents and supporters are more than welcome to join us at our venue, Northern Arena. We are also looking for around 15 volunteers to help us out – a few of you may like to bring your togs! If you are able to assist on the day, please email julie@redbeach.school.nz
There is a cost of $7 per student to cover the pool and bus hire which can be paid via KINDO.
SPORTS UNIFORM
The Red Beach School unisex sports uniform is available for purchase through the school. Due to an increase in the cost from our supplier, our RBS sports shirts are now $40 and the sports shorts are $22. The sports shirt is compulsory for students involved in a Red Beach School sports team however, the sports shorts are optional. Both items are available through KINDO.
